Matcha is green tea leaves ground to a fine powder, so you whisk and drink the whole leaf rather than steeping it and throwing it away.
Caffeine and L-theanine
Like all green tea, matcha naturally contains caffeine, alongside L-theanine, an amino acid found in the leaf. It is why a bowl of matcha is a favourite morning ritual for so many.
